Families from the Santa Rosa district have reached a compensation agreement with La Pampilla Refinery. The 97 families were affected by the oil spill that occurred in Ventanilla.
Among the economic activities of the compensated are: umbrella stand owners, umbrella stand assistants, fast food stand owners and assistants, as well as kiosk and restaurant assistants.
Santa Rosa, thus, becomes the first district in which a group of villagers has reached a final agreement with the company.
The amount agreed upon with each family is based on the methodology and the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights of the United Nations, which are integrated into the company’s internal policies.
It is important to remember that, before reaching this agreement, each family had already received advance payments on account of the final compensation.
Thus, the company is moving forward with the agreement to grant compensation to each affected family, and it reaffirms its commitment to carry out new social development programs, while continuing to collaborate with the authorities in the investigations into the origins of the spill.
