- Around 6,000 people have already received compensation advances up to the amount of 6,000 soles each.
Lima 21.06.22. Repsol reaffirms its commitment to comply with the agreements with the affected populations after the oil spill occurred last January 15, off the coast of Ventanilla.
Regarding the residents of Chancay who have protested today, we confirm that they are registered in the Single Registry of Affected People and have already received two advances on account of the future compensation to which they are entitled. The company is in dialogue with them in order to answer their queries.
It is important to point out that on March 4 an agreement was signed with the Peruvian Government that establishes a Single Registry of Affected People, prepared by local governments with technical assistance from INDECI. To date, approximately 6,000 people have received two compensation advances of up to 6,000 soles per person.
The company’s priority – from the very beginning – has been to reach all affected people in the 5 impacted districts: Ventanilla, Aucayama, Chancay, Ancon and Santa Rosa.
The company will continue to maintain an ongoing dialogue with the affected communities and the authorities.
Repsol’s commitment is absolute and long-term.
