- OEFA’s report concludes that seawater and seabed are clean.
- OEFA requests the preparation of a remediation plan for certain coastal areas.
Lima, October 5, 2022 The Pampilla Refinery welcomes the delivery of the final report by the Environmental Evaluation and Oversight Agency (OEFA) and reiterates that it will implement the rehabilitation plans in the corresponding areas, after the completion of the cleaning tasks announced last April.
It should be noted that OEFA's report is based mainly on samples taken between March and June.
In compliance with Supreme Decree 039-2014-EM, the Pampilla Refinery will prepare an Environmental Rehabilitation Plan, which must be approved by the Ministry of Energy and Mines and subsequently executed by the company.
The report concludes that the seawater and seabed are clean, which should enable the competent authorities to allow the prompt reactivation of fishing activities.
In the 28 beaches and coastal formations declared free of hydrocarbons, we urge the corresponding authorities to promptly reopen the beaches and reactivate recreational and enjoyment activities.
The company reiterates its commitment to return the coastline to its original state.
