  • La Pampilla Refinery is surprised again as the authorities do not accept that the area meets healthy conditions to reactivate artisanal fishermen.

Lima, May 19, 2023.- According to a report issued by the Ministry of Production’s National Fisheries Health Service (SANIPES), it is confirmed that Ancon’s fishing resources are free of hydrocarbons. This report, which ratifies that the affected areas meet healthy conditions, is included with the report on sea and beaches conditions issued by the Assessment and Environmental Control Agency (OEFA).

According to Technical report No. 057-2023-SANIPES/DSI/SDI, dated March 29, 2023, the research “Study on healthy conditions and risk analysis of hydrobiological resources affected by the oil spill in Ventanilla sea”, which was performed in Ancon (La Isleta, Isla Grande, Pocitas beach and Conchitas beach) between July and December 2022, showed that the PAH (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) found in both resources (snail, morwong, and seaweed) and seawater meet healthy conditions.

In this report, SANIPES also confirmed that Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) and PAH parameters, as well as the sensorial analysis performed in resources and seawater samplings from Ventanilla and Supe, showed good results.

In addition, it is informed that “… to date, the organoleptic analysis of hydrobiological resources checked not only in Artisanal Fishermen Lading Stages at the piers of Ancon, Callao and Pucusana, but also in selling places such as SERINPES S.A., FELMO SR Ltda. and Mi Pesca retail market (Callao), have shown good results”.

La Pampilla Refinery is surprised again as the authorities do not accept that the area meets healthy conditions to reactivate artisanal fishermen.
