Repsol withdraws the PLEM in coordination with the Authorities

Lima, March 18, 2022. Repsol has successfully removed the remaining elements of the PLEM from the La Pampilla Refinery’s Marine Terminal No. 2. The process has been carried out in coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, OSINERGMIN and OEFA.

The metal piece, which had been immobilized at the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office as part of the investigation of the incident, was 18 meters below the surface of the sea. The lifting of the PLEM was carried out following strict safety measures, in accordance with the procedure approved by the competent authority.

Repsol reiterates its absolute commitment to advance as quickly as possible in the clean-up work at sea and the Peruvian coastline and to attend to the needs of the affected communities and fauna.
