REPSOL: AMOUNT OF SPILLED BARRELS

By January 28, 2022April 23rd, 2022Committed to remediation

Lima, January 28th, 2022. Since the oil spill in La Pampilla on January 15, Repsol’s only objective has been and continues to be to remedy its impacts. To this end, it has deployed all the necessary human and technical resources. This is our top priority.

With the technical information available, we are in a position to report that the amount of oil spilled is 10,396 barrels and of this, 35% has already been recovered through sea and beach clean-up work, according to our best estimates.

The figure we give today is based on technical calculations made according to:

  • The amount of crude oil that the Mare Doricum tanker was harboring before starting the offloading
  • The amount currently stored in the tanks at the Pampilla Refinery.
  • The product that was recovered from the pipelines; and
  • The calculation of the crude oil flows.

This amount can be definitively confirmed upon receipt at the refinery of the remaining volume in the vessel’s tanks.

The information we provide today has been forwarded to the appropriate authorities within the framework of ongoing collaboration.
