Last night, the Environmental Evaluation and Oversight Agency (OEFA) issued a press release warning that new hydrocarbons have been found in the Multi-buoy Terminal 2 of La Pampilla Refinery, District of Ventanilla.

In this sense, La Pampilla Refinery stated the following:

  • This finding is not related to the spill that occurred in January 2022 or is it related to La Pampilla Refinery’s operations.
  • La Pampilla’s Multi-buoy Terminal 2 has not been operating since January 2022.
There are no hydrocarbons found along the facilities.
  • According to the OEFA, it has been a migratory spill slick moving from the south with appearance of burnt oils and fish oils that included garbage, wood, and other solid residues. It has been reported to the corresponding authorities in the same way as they have been doing for other similar findings in the past.
  • Even though it is not related to our activities, cleaning activities were performed.
